Kipari Outdoor Area is a scenic excursion destination where breathtaking views open from the top of the hill across the forests and lakes of Rautavaara. The landscapes can be admired from a 14-metre observation tower, and visitors can enjoy their own packed meals in the traditional Finnish kota shelter by an open fire.
At Kipari, you can enjoy the outdoors by hiking, exploring nature, admiring the views or gathering wild forest produce.
The 2.2-kilometre circular trail, Kiparin kierros, partly located within a nature conservation area, passes through varied terrain and culminates at a scenic viewpoint on top of the hill. From there you can admire the views from the observation tower and enjoy a break in the kota shelter with a fireplace. At the summit you will also find a wood shed with firewood and an outdoor toilet. Benches along the trail provide places to rest.
In winter, the slopes can be explored on snowshoes. Sledging or snowboarding can be enjoyed on a separate sledging hill. In late winter, the frozen surface of the nearby Lake Keyritty invites visitors to go cross-country skiing and ice fishing, and a snowmobile route also runs across the lake.
